This gives a similar driving feel to a 1:1 local short-track oval - even if those ovals are banked a little. I have built many HO tracks with banked curves. The steepest banking I consider practical is 20 degrees. My tracks with 10 degree banking have been popular. I have found it useful to model banked tracks in poster board. I make a 1/12th scale drawing on my computer, print it out, and paste the printout to the poster board. The only banked turns are 9" and 12". The 9" bank is marginally usable with cars that do not have traction magnets of some sort. The flat turns all nest in 3" radius increments as expected with some minor gaps due to manufacturing tolerances (or lack thereof): 6->9->12->15->18. A 10-lane flat track is very doable.

I am sensitive to the large square foot requirements of a track versus the high cost of rent in good retail locations. I know how to create the maximum track in minimal conditions. Then drill two 3/32 holes in the flat part as shown. I now painted the rods and the fence with a silver/chrome paint. When attaching the rod to the underside of the border , drill one 1/16 pilot hole in the pvc, making sure not to go all the way through.
